                  ALPHA ADRENERGIC BLOCKING DRUGS

(1)           PHENOXYBENZEMINE:-It cycylizes spontaneously in the body giving rise to a highly reactive ethyleniminium intermediate which reacts with alpha adrenoceptors and other biomolecules by forming strong covalent bonds. It is lipid soluble penetrates brain and can produce cns stimulation nausea and vomiting on rapid I.V. injection.

(2)           TOLAZOLINE:- It is an imidazole compound with complex pharmacological properties. Tolazoline also bloks 5-HT recepters has a histamine like gastric secretagogue . it is used in pheripheral vascular diseases and pulmonary hypertension of the newborn.

(3)           DOXAZOSIN:-Used in hypertension and benig hypertrophy of prostate(BPH).

(4)           TAMSULOSIN:-Used in BPH patients
