Now let us discuss about some of the parasitic diseases Role lt is a viral disease carried by Aedes aegypti mosquito.

It is a public health problem causes more than 10,000 cases & 300 deaths in Delhi alone in 1995

Aedes aegypti mosquito breeds in clean water in artificial containertyre, broken bottle, containers Desert Cooler, Over head Tanks 

(О.Н.Т.) M osquito breeds in clean water which has not come in contact with soil.

Mode of transmission:-
It is due to bite of infected female Aedes aegypti mosquito which has acquired virus from infected person.

Clinical features:- there are 3 types of Dengue

1.Dengue Fever:- Starts like ordinary fever and the patient becomes alright after 3-4 days

2.Dengue Haemoragic Syndrome (D.HS)-causes bleeding from gums,nose, ears etc.

-High fever,bleeding from ear, nose, gums etc. due to low platelets count

- Liver is enlarged

-Circulatory failure
3.Dengue shock syndrome (DSS): Fall of blood pressure, feeble pulse, critical condition fall of temperature. 
Patient may die if not treated.

Treatment

1.No effect of antibiotics

2.Treatment as per symptoms
3. l/V fluids
4. Keep temperature low, Never give asprin but paracetamol can be given.

5. Take the patient to doctor/PHC
Control:

1.Control of mosquito breeding in overhead tanks/desert coolers, empty bottles, plastic containers etc.

2.Prevent bite of mosquito.

3.Anti larval/anti adult measures

4.Active surveillance

5.The mosquito usually bites during day times & in the evening so th children should not be allowed to play outside.

Do's
» Close observation of DHF (Dengue haemorage fever) and

1.DSS (Dengue shock syndrome)

2.Blood transfusion in case of severe bleeding.

3.Treatment of shock by raising foot end, give hot tea or coffee.Cover the patient with blanket.

4.We should give plattlet transfusion if count comes down below 50,000/ cellcumm as per advise of doctoir.

Don'ts

1.Do not give Aspirins

2.No use of antibiotics as it is viral infection

3.Do not give steroids

4.We should avoid to give blood transfusion it may be required in case of profuse bleeding
